SMM reported on December 16: Today, the price of Grade 1 sponge titanium moved tentatively upward, with mainstream quotations at 44,000-45,000 yuan/mt, remaining unchanged from yesterday.
According to sponge titanium enterprises, since early December, the sponge titanium market has continued to experience a supply-demand imbalance, with downstream titanium material market demand remaining sluggish, bringing significant operational pressure to the sponge titanium industry. New orders have been weak, and enterprise inventories have gradually increased. Some sponge titanium enterprises have attempted to adjust prices to cope with the market, and pre-holiday stockpiling by downstream manufacturers has helped stabilize the previously raised prices. It is expected that sponge titanium production will remain stable in January.
